FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

How long is a VHEL season?

The Summer season is 8 weeks, across 4 legs of play. Each leg lasts 2 weeks, and teams can opt in at the start of any leg. As the season progresses, later legs become more valuable to the overall leaderboard.

Fall and Spring seasons each include 2 weeks of preseason, 7 weeks of regular play, and 2–3 weeks of playoffs, depending on the title.

Fortnite, Minecraft, and Apex Legends: 2-week playoffs

All other titles: 3-week playoffs

The Summer Series takes place every July and August and runs for 8 weeks of leg-style play — no preseason and no playoffs.

All matches count toward Power Rankings, giving teams a shorter beginning-of-year opportunity to climb the standings and prepare for Fall competition.

Any K–12 scholastic team or youth-based organization with an adult coach or supervisor can participate.

All players must belong to an in-person organization or community — such as a school, youth center, or club — and must know each other in person.

Teams are placed into divisions based on their average in-game rank for balanced competition.

VHEL league play features the following titles:

  • Valorant, Rocket League, Marvel Rivals, Overwatch 2, Fortnite Duos, Fortnite Duos (Zero Build), Fortnite Squads, Minecraft Bed Wars, Apex Legends, Super Smash Bros., and Rainbow Six Siege.,

Game lineups are most consistent across Fall and Spring, while Winter typically focuses on ESC Series titles only.

Yes. All seasonal results — including preseason and playoffs — contribute to Power Rankings, which determine invitations to the ESC National Championship.

Winning a season grants an automatic bid to Nationals.
